1-to-1 Reformer & Mat Classes for Dancers

1-to-1sessions focus on developing a balance of stability and mobility, breath control, engagement of deep stabilising muscles to maintain efficient alignment, and drawing awareness to individual postural habits. As part of this work a full postural analysis is carried out to understand areas of potential imbalance and specific personal goals are discussed.

An individual programme will then be created based on the information gathered with the aim of helping to prevent injury and enhance performance potential.

Dance studio Classes

These classes can be tailored to specific areas of focus depending on the group. For instance, the low back and hip joints are common sites of pain and injury in dancers. In an effort to lift the legs higher, dancers may develop inefficient muscular patterns and grip larger muscles groups to achieve the action, possibly taking them out of a good alignment and putting them at risk of injury. Pilates can help to appropriately strengthen and stretch the supporting muscles in these areas and encourage a better awareness of breath, control, and technique.

As part of these sessions dancers will receive useful resources including fact sheets and age appropriate resources to help support their work.
